Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Piano Online (pianoonline.org) collects, why, and what rights you have. The short version: we collect almost nothing, we have no accounts, and we never sell your personal information.

Overview

Piano Online is designed to work entirely in your browser. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups and no profile data. We do not store personal data on our servers. Everything you play — notes, chords, tutorials — happens locally on your device.

Information We Collect Automatically

Like nearly every website, our web server and analytics tools process some standard technical information when you visit:

This information is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used and to keep it working correctly. It is not used to identify you personally, and it is not combined with anything else, because there is nothing else to combine it with.

Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage — not cookies — to remember two small preferences:

These values never leave your device and are never transmitted to us. To clear them, open your browser's developer tools, go to the Application or Storage tab, remove the entries above for pianoonline.org, or simply clear site data in your browser settings. The site will fall back to its defaults.

Cookies & Advertising

This site may display advertising, including ads served through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Your Rights — GDPR

If you are located in the EU or EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, object to processing of, and port your personal data. Because we store no personal data on servers and have no accounts, the practical scope of these rights is limited to the minimal technical data described above. Our legal bases are: legitimate interest (operating and securing the site), and consent (advertising cookies, where applicable). To exercise any right, email us at [email protected].

Your Rights — CCPA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information as the CCPA defines it. Requests can be sent to [email protected]; we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children's Privacy

Piano Online is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, consistent with COPPA. Because we do not require accounts or collect profiles, we have nothing child-specific to disclose. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Data Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and because nearly all functionality runs locally in your browser, the amount of data that could ever be exposed is minimal by design. No system is perfectly secure, but our attack surface is intentionally tiny.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version, and significant changes will be noted on this page.
